Grammatoula Papaioannou is a Reader in Business Analytics at 天堂视频 Business School. She holds a BSc (Hons) in Computer Science and a PhD in Operational Research from 天堂视频. She is also a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA).

Grammatoula’s research explores the intersection of quantitative modelling and real-world decision-making, with interests in efficiency and productivity analysis of firms, business analytics, logistics and supply chains, and optimisation and meta-heuristics. She has published in leading academic journals and secured competitive research funding on various projects. Grammatoula is working closely with external partners to ensure her research delivers both academic and practical value.

Grammatoula has taught extensively across undergraduate, postgraduate, and executive education programmes. She served for many years as Programme Director for the MSc Business Analytics and is currently Deputy Head for Research and Innovation in the Management Science and Operations Group.

Grammatoula’s main area of research is data envelopment analysis (DEA). This includes various theoretical topics and practical issues related to the assessment of performance, efficiency and productivity of organisations and policy evaluation.

Connected to this theme is the area of supply chains, their sustainability and performance. Grammatoula has been involved in several funded projects in this area with the total value exceeding £2.0 million.

Grammatoula has an established track record of publishing her research, serving in editorial roles and refereeing in top rated journals. She has supervised five PhD students to successful completion and four postdoctoral research associates, working on her funded projects.

Grammatoula’s research profile has become highly visible and achieved international reputation. She has served on scientific committees of many international conferences, gave plenary talks and served as a guest editor of special issues of reputable journals. She has been actively involved as a reviewer at most of the top journals in management science and operational research and twice received the best reviewer award from Omega, the International Journal of Management Science. Grammatoula has delivered many training workshops for Government departments in the UK, including Department for Work and Pensions (DWP), Ministry of Justice (MOJ), OFSTED and Department for Energy Security and Net Zero (DESNZ).
