Dementia, early diagnosis and prevention of dementia, menopause, age-related cognitive decline

Profile

Eef’s research investigates risk and protective factors for dementia and age-related cognitive decline, centring on diet, exercise, and lifestyle changes.

The aims of her research involve preventing/delaying the onset of dementia and effectively supporting people living with it, also including design to facilitate their independence.

Eef is interested in the role that hormones play in cognitive decline and the possible prevention of dementia, researching this area for over 25 years. She has acted as advisor for EU and National Guidelines for menopausal women on HRT and brain function.
