General Assembly round-up: March 2025

Thank you to colleagues who recently attended the General Assembly, held on Wednesday 5 March.

General Assembly is a forum open to all staff, which is led by the Vice-Chancellor and runs on a termly basis. Its objectives are to provide clarity on the University’s purpose and everyone’s role in supporting this, and to improve engagement across the University by serving as a place to listen, exchange ideas and ask questions.

At the event, Professor Nick Jennings presented attendees with information about the following:

  • People and Culture projects, new senior staff appointments, and an overview of the results of the 2024
  • Information about the University’s finances amid a challenging time for the sector

After the Vice-Chancellor's presentation, colleagues were able to ask Professor Nick Jennings and other members of the Senior Leadership teams questions. Question themes included:

  • How the planned expansion of the ÌìÌÃÊÓƵ Science and Engineering Park supports our sustainability and biodiversity aims
  • What power Vice-Chancellors across the UK have in changing the public narrative around higher education institutions
  • Further clarity on the University’s financial position

In case you missed it, a is now available to watch. The next General Assembly will take place on Wednesday 21 May, with further details to be shared in April.
